Starting in late 2005, Monolith Modular Systems, Inc. was contracted to begin audiovisual systems support at McCann WorldGroup. As one of the largest advertising agencies in New York City, there were over 60 conference rooms outfitted with audiovisual presentation systems.

As McCann Worldgroup had moved into the space in 2001,

there were several rooms that required technology upgrades.

 

Beginning with the three large presentation spaces called Black Box Theaters, we re-programmed the installed control systems with a more user friendly and less "technical" look designed by McCann’s own Presentations Department. In 2008, the audio and video routing components of the presentation systems were upgraded with the latest Extron technology. Additionally, we replaced the existing rear projection mirror system with a new direct throw Hitachi projector. This provided a brighter image to the large presentation screen. The Black Box Theaters also benefited from a separation of the program audio from the speech audio. Monolith installed three Soundtube room filling ceiling speakers to the lighting grid. This solution offered speech support while retaining the existing 5.1 Surround Sound system for the program audio.

 

One request McCann had was to allow for the internal Town Hall meetings to be held within the three Black Box Theaters simultaneously. This would allow presentations from one room to be displayed and discussed in the other two rooms. Monolith provided the solution to this engineering challenge with an innovative use of equipment currently owned by McCann. This solution minimized the purchase of additional equipment. The resulting system now allows the Black Box Theaters to meet and surpass virtually all of the technological challenges requested of them.

 

The Boardroom was next on McCann's agenda. They were seeking to improve its' reliability for presentations. Monolith updated the control system with a new Crestron control system consisting of two 10.4” touchpanels. During the upgrade, we replaced the projector with a new Hitachi 4000 lumens short throw projector. This eliminated the need for the existing mirror system. The result: increased image quality at a lower cost to operate. The resulting system has proven to be more reliable and efficient.
